Fashionable and fair produced clothing in organic quality - that's what the fair fashion label People Tree stands for. Since the company was founded, the managing director Safia Minney has been committed to offering attractive clothing while improving the working and living conditions of producers in developing countries and protecting the environment.
People Tree combines opposites
For a long time, fair trade and fashion, just like organic and fashion, seemed hardly compatible. Today, People Tree takes away the decision between a clear conscience and attractive clothing. The eco fashion label with its philosophy focused on sustainability opposes the fateful trend for both the environment and producers towards quickly produced cheap clothing, which has flooded the textile market for decades, and counters the mass products with fair produced clothing from small handicraft businesses in developing countries. "Respect for People and the Planet" is therefore the credo of the label, which has been a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) since 1996. Together with the WFTO, People Tree has also launched the "World Fair Trade Day", which is celebrated every year in over 70 countries.
Dress to impress! People Tree makes it possible. Because from classic long-sleeves, dresses and skirts to leggings, shorts and trousers or favourite shirts, you can find everything here. By the way, the label also offers fair-trade jewellery! The handmade jewellery is produced by Bombolulu Workshops in Kenya. People work here who have physical limitations, but who put just as much love into every single detail.
The clothing of People Tree is also made in small factories located in developing countries. The manufacturing process starts with cotton. People Tree uses natural organic cotton and other environmentally friendly materials instead of synthetic fibres. These are also dyed exclusively with natural dyes that are harmless to both people and the environment. The dyes are also GOTS certified. Most of People Tree's clothing is certified with the seals of the Soil Association, which guarantees GOTS standards along the entire production chain from cultivation to dyeing, and the Control Union.
Fair Trade: The concept of the future
The concept of sustainability is complemented by a pronounced sense of fairness: not only towards the customers, to whom one is committed to durable textiles that are harmless to health, but also and above all towards producers in developing countries. This is of course reflected in appropriate pay and secure jobs, but also includes the long-term fight against poverty.
Modern organic fashion
Organic cotton is not only modern and chic, but also comfortable, high-quality and non-toxic, which makes the fabric super skin-friendly. If you want to do something good for the world and yourself and look great, People Tree has a lot to offer!
