Clothing From Komodo
The Komodo eco-label takes its name from founder Joe Komodo, a pioneer in the use of sustainable materials. He sees the possibility of being able to dress according to one's mood as a privilege that must be met with responsibility. Only a fair and sustainable style is cool - everyone else is just pretending!
Komodo - Green Fashion Label With Style
After years of traveling in Asia, Joe began using sustainable materials in the 90s. In his opinion, the only way how everyone can profit the most from a deal is a constant exchange based on loyalty and respect. That's why Komodo visits the production sites for at least two months every year and tries to solve problems together.
GOTS Guarantees Sustainability
No question: The selection of the fair fashion brand is extensive. Whether summer dresses, basic T-shirts or you new favourite shirts, both women and men will surely find what they are looking for.
Both the hemp and the organic cotton are GOTS certified, which means that these raw materials are free of any kind of harmful substances, such as pesticides, and that the organic cultivation is environmentally friendly. All production partners try to produce as little waste as possible. The most energy-efficient operation is required. Komodo is also CO2 neutral with the help of the Carbon Neutral Company.
Komodo Shows Responsibility For Its Workers
The production sites here are located in Asia. Starting as small family businesses, they developed together with Komodo and grew into medium-sized family businesses. Regular visits and accompanying discussions ensure transparency. Most of the production sites are also certified according to the social standard SA8000 or GOTS or are controlled by independent organisations such as UL, which check the products for quality and safety and the production sites for proper social standards, among other things. Komodo's website provides detailed information about the aid projects supported and the social criteria of Komodo. These include: the prohibition of child and forced labour, living wages, regulated working hours and safety and hygiene standards. Komodo is also a member of the Ethical Fashion Forum and MADE-BY.
Organic Cotton And Hemp: Eco & Sexy!
Those who rely on organic materials not only do something good for the environment and workers, but also for their own health. Because pesticides can remain in the garments even after many washes and are extremely harmful. In addition to cotton and hemp, there are also individual pieces made of linen and merino wool.
